Renee la vie. The life of me.

It's been so long since I've written on my blog. I revamped, changed, deleted, added to it...and basically I'm starting over :)
First of all, this blog will hopefully be filled with lots of different things. And who knows what it will evolve to in the future. For now though it will focus on what's going on in my life, makeup, beauty and fashion finds, health & exercise, books I'm reading or have read and loved, and cooking (recipe experiments, good, bad and ugly) Essentially everything and anything under the sun. Basically this a way to get my creativity flowing and have an outlet for that!

On that note, let me introduce myself:
I'm Renee Porter. Twenty six years old.
I am a girl living in the country who loves the city but hates crowds, a girl who dreams of traveling, but is an unapologetic homebody. How 'bout that oxymoron? Simple things make me happy. Watching cooking shows on Saturdays, reading and sipping coffee, walking my dogs, an energetic beagle boy Gatsby, and a shy but sweet Pyrenees, Daisy.

Speaking of reading I'm currently reading "Grace not Perfection" by Emily Ley. It gave me the initial idea and push to restart my blog.
In the book it asked some questions that really got me thinking.

When was the last time you were ecstatically happy?
What  are you missing? What makes you feel deeply alive?
I sat there for a minute and was almost sad...I literally couldn't think of a time recently that I was "ecstatically" happy. I'm not depressed by any means (well, depends on the day LOL)  and yes, I've been happy, happyish, and all the shades in between. But ecstatically, take a mental picture this moment is so perfect happy...apparently it's been a while. Life gets busy, routine sets in and you're just trying to make it to Friday.
So I thought to myself, you really need to do something that makes YOU happy. Something that fills you up and energizes your soul.

Writing does that for me. So here I am. Again.

I hope to share things with whoever might read this that make you smile, laugh and maybe even inspires.
I dream of being a writer. Of the ideas in my head somehow reaching people. Doing something I love for a living. Pipe dream? Maybe. But I'm going to put on my running shoes and chase it.

Starting now.

10 things you don't know about me

In the first post, I somewhat introduced myself. But in this post I'm going do share 10 Things you probably don't know about me. 1. I am a HUGE worrier. Seriously, about everything. I keep myself up at night thinking and overthinking. What I did or shouldn't have done that day. I replay conversations that I might have had with people wishing I would have thought of better things to say. I know the verse in Philippians "dont worry about anything; instead pray about everything" but let me just say that's so much easier said than done. I want to make everyone happy sometimes to the full extent of not being happy myself. I want to make everything easier for everyone else. I've always felt that I'm some not good enough, that who I am is somehow sub par. That coupled with worrying is a recipe for sleepless nights and stressful days. ANYWAYS...moving on to a less heavy note.... 2. I am a clean freak. Ever since we moved into our new house, I've been...

Christmas in July

Even though we just got back from the beach last weekend, I'm feelin' the holiday cheer. Thank you Hallmark Channel for making my Christmas loving heart happy. Yes, I'm one of those that love cheesy Hallmark movies and all things Christmas, so you mash those two together- perfection! Where's the hot chocolate? It's getting me in the mood for scarves, boots, and caramel brulee lattes from Starbucks- only THE best holiday drink out there. Chris and I may or may not have a Starbucks addiction. Don't judge. I guess while its 90+ degrees outside I can dream of cooler temperatures and hot beverages. But we did have a great time in Destin last week on vacation. It was probably the longest stint of time we've had together- just us since our honeymoon. We read on the beach, got up early to beat the crowd to our favorite breakfast spot, watched movies and just enjoyed not having a set schedule. And oh did we eat donuts. It became a literal food group last week. Po...

In other news

A lot has happened in the past few months since I last wrote. Biggest thing is....we're having a baby!! He or she is due January 25, 2019. I've started feeling little flutters and movement in the last week or so and it's been so amazing and fun! I can't fit into anything other than gym shorts right now! All the maternity clothes I have are for cooler temps and Georgia says it's still summer time, so until then...tshirts and gym shorts! We find out the gender on Tuesday and it's been the longest month of my life waiting for that appointment. Because after that the real planning begins! We're going to have to keep it a secret for 3 days until our gender reveal party on Friday. That is gonna be tough! The party is going to be a Fisherman or a Mermaid theme--all the decorations are too cute! We bought a huge confetti popper from Poof there It Is that we're going to set off to tell everyone with. I seriously CAN'T. WAIT. Look them up on Instagram...
